Welcoming Alicia Back

We had elk calf last night in celebration of Alicia’s return back to the family (in reference to the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32). Tonight’s TLC episode will bring much of our story (along with all sorts of Jeub events and happenings) of having a prodigal child for three years. The story is one of heartbreak, growth and love. Last night was the first time in three years that Alicia got to see her siblings. They took her for a tour of the house to show many new things and projects. The kids were all different from what she remembers. We stayed up with the kids for a couple of hours talking about how great of a time we had getting to know Alicia again.

God can move mountains in some of the bleakest situations. We will likely post more about our relationship with Alicia. It is a great story with a very happy ending. For now, we’re relishing the great fruit of the vine. Here are some pics from last night:

Watching your show on TLC right now. You really are so blessed and I want to say how beautiful your whole family is. Especially your wife. You’d never know she birthed 13 children. I grew up with just 1 sibling but had a ton of cousins. You children are so lucky to have each other. You want more children – May God Bless You!!!

I was so glad to see this section of the website and Alicia’s comment above. I was a 16 yr. old single mother of a beautiful daughter. I then met a man whom I married and have been with for 15 years. (we have one son together). It was a very rough road raising my daughter and your story seemed to paralel my life (all but the amount of children) – My daughter was a great challenge. Now she is 20 and living on her own. Although I was not happy with all her choices, eventually, she grew to be a beautiful smart young women whom I am very proud of. Chris & Wendy, please don’t miss out on any more of Alicia’s and your first grandson’s life. These are the days you will treasure and can’t be replaced. I see my daughter almost every day. We are best friends.

I am one of the oldest (closer to the top than I am the bottom of eleven children. Seeing all the kids pitching in and helping, preparing for the big day, reminded me of the all of the fun we had growing up with family traditions. Stories that the kids will tell their kids…a legacy of love.

Hi there! I just watched your show and was heartbroken by your estrangement with Alicia. I was so happy that you guys got back together! Also, I was thinking that you guys are an incredible and beautiful family. You should apply for the Extreme Makeover Home Edition! I think you could win, and you deserve it after raising such a wonderful family. I thought about nominating you, although I don’t know where you live I hope you would consider it. Saw your show last night. Was floored by your ability to raise 13 children and be organized and on a budget. Was very interested in your story with Alicia. As the oldest surely a lot was placed in her lap in the caring for the other children. I understand that you could not have a “bad example” in the home but wonder what you could have done to help out someone who was so faithful to the family for so long. Don’t leave her — unless she forsakes Christ any other problems can be overcome. We are all human, we all make horrible mistakes and sometimes we don’t feel like we can come back to the family because of them. Grow in your relationship with her. Thanks for the site and the show.

Bravo! Bringing Alicia back into the family is great. Right now Alicia needs you more than ever. Her son will also need you. You have influenced every part of their lives. Hopefully, the lessons you taught will show as she raises her own son with the same values that you have given her. Sometimes it takes having your own child to remember how important those lessons are.

i can’t hold back tears of joy when i see such beautiful, big family portraits. having only a 2 and 5 year old (so far!! ), i can’t even express the kind of respect and admiration i have, for someone who’s spent so many years pregnant, and so many hours in childbirth. amazing. hugs to your family.
