Thank you for this blog. We shared the exact same thoughts and chose to pull our oldest children out of school for the very same reasons.

We need God back in peoples hearts first and foremost.

Heather,
1 Peter 5:6 says "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him, for He cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers in the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ after you have suffered a little while will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. To Him be the power forever and ever. Amen."

1 Peter 3:13
"Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? but even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. 'do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened' but in your hearts, set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have."

Luke 16:13
"No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other."

12Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 13But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 17For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18And,
"If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?"
19So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

Finally you should be "Afraid" of what the government is doing right now, but do not let that paralyze you, let it spring you into action. Call your elected officials and tell them what you think about the decisions that they are making.

Bless your heart,
Wendy Jeub Psalm 67

I am not afraid of overpopulation or global warming or the economy, these days I AM afraid of where our government is taking this country. I am afraid of having my parental rights taken away. I read about families in other countries that have their children taken away because they homeschool. I am afraid of the government thinking they know what's best for my child, and because we are different we must be wrong!
I do consider myself "quiverfull" but to be honest what I have read lately does make my pause and think.

Well said!

The other day I was meditating about having children (I will be delivering #4 in 5 weeks or so) and how most people around me are amazed at my "courage" to have children. I was thinking about how can I cut off this source of blessing? Every time I have been obedient to what God has asked me to do I have only been blessed. Whenever I tried my own way to things the outcome were disastrous.

The only way to counter fear is to believe what the Word of God says and that is what I choose to do. Let the people think we are crazy, irresponsible or courageous, I just want to be faithful and trust and believe in Jesus.

I always tell myself: "Now which one of your children would you put back?" The answer is always none. How dreadful would it be to be missing out on another of God's blessing!!!

Be blessed today, :)

Yup.
We've run into that more lately, as we're now "older parents" and people are expressing concern that maybe we should do something to stop having kids. [#8 arrived on 1/1/10! :)]

Dh and I both believe: "Who knows what God may have in store for us!"

And on the ecological front -- have you seen today's news: http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-science/20100120/SCI.UN.Climate.Change/

Thanks, as always, for your thoughts!

Sarah, wife to John, mom to the Great Eight.
