Reason to Celebrate: #16 on the way!

Our “Jeubilee” Birthday Bash was yesterday. What a great party! The official count was 115 children and 46 adults. The weather was beautiful and kept a lot of the party outside in the beautiful mountain air.

One of the activities is, of course, gift opening. As people are gathered together, Wendy and I take the time to give a special talk. We make such a hoopla over the “birth” days of each child because each child is so valuable to those around them. Life is precious, children are a joy, and we celebrate the blessing once a year by inviting our friends and family to party with us. (We’ve been doing this for a dozen years…see here for party details.)

What better time to make a special announcement? We are extremely thrilled to make this special announcement: “Chris & Wendy Jeub are expecting #16 in May.”

That’s right! We are expecting another child, and we couldn’t be more happy. That helps make this announcement all the more exciting to make. Another Jeub is on his or her way. We’ll keep you posted!

CONGRATS! SO happy for you all. I have a question about the birthday bash though… how do you handle the gifts? what guests buy for whom? and how do you make sure all kids get an even amount?

HI Amy, The easy answer is we don’t.

What we say on the invite is to not feel obligated to bring a gift for each child. Good grief you would have to take out a loan! Just bring what you feel you want to bring. What some have done is bring a gift for children the same age as theirs. Others have done a family gift. Still others have put some really neat ideas into practice. Like; made of a copy of their best recipe and included everything even the pans!!

We also have a talk with our children that they need to be thankful for anything they get and not to expect anything.

I am so excited for the Jeub family! Our 4th is due any day now (our 1st boy) and we are excited. We get asked all the time if we are stopping now that we have a boy. It’s amazing that people make the assumption we kept having kids because we wanted a boy. Although we aren’t sure if we will have a 5th (I’m 39) we are open to the possiblities. Your family is such an ecouragement to us!

WOO HOO!!!! Congrats! So happy for y’all. I’ve been wondering when the next Jeub would be coming along. My kids think your big birthday bash sounds like SO much fun. I’m considering it seriously, since we have six children total and 5 of their birthdays fall in a 45 day period. We could do a b-day bash around July or so and encompass everyone. That way I wouldn’t be doing 5 b-day parties one right after the other.

We took your idea and had a birthday bash a couple of years ago. We wanted to do another one this year, but when we listed our friends we discovered we would have to have 3 different parties! And not because we have a lot of friends, but because if we invited group a, then group b, and group c wouldn’t come and the same for any way we did it. Pretty sad isn’t it; that people who profess to be Christians can’t get along? So we gave up that idea. The one we did was fun though. And yes, we had several that “couldn’t” come, but the children loved it anyway.

Congratulations! Were expecting #6 May 17 only 3 weeks before our youngest first birthday! My inlaws are not supportive of our lifestyle so although we already know where having a little boy we still haven’t announced our pregnancy. My grandmother inlaw is on her death bed and we just don’t know how to tell my husbands mother. We are scared of her reaction and were in our 30s. Anyways not to babble about myself, I’m really thrilled for you guys! Merry Christmas.
