Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Yesterday was one of my favorite days of the year: spending the day in the kitchen preparing for our Thanksgiving dinner. One of our family favorites is our Sweet & Sour Green Beans, and I posted a 3-minute video to show you how it’s done.
This recipe is in the Sides & Sauces section of my first cookbook, Love in the Kitchen Vol. 1, page 119. There are nearly 200 more recipes in my cookbook, most “Jeub originals” like this one, so be sure to get your copy. Here’s the recipe:
1/2 pound bacon
4 Tbsp flour
3/4 cups sugar
3/4 cups apple vinegar, scant
3 or 4 cans green beans, drained
1/4 cup green bean water from can, if desired
Fry bacon until mildly crisp. Save about 4 Tbsp of the grease. Put the bacon grease in a large saucepan over medium heat, and gradually stir in the flour, sugar, apple vinegar, and green bean water. Stir until it becomes thick like gravy. Add more bean juice if too thick. Add green beans. Lastly, crumble the bacon into it. This can be refrigerated and reheated before serving.
This recipe debuts our new YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/jeubfamily. We hope to post more videos like this in the future, perhaps one every week. Here’s the video…
