Happy Anniversary!!!! I already have that book & LOVE it.

Just want to say too that I am currently reading the newest one, Love Another Child, & I love it too. Just finished the chapter about how a fear of having a special needs child can make people scared to have children. That one really hit home with me as I have had 4 with special needs. One has Aspergers, one has severe Autism, one had to have open heart surgery at 2 weeks old & one died at one day old. I cant say I was not fearful of it happening again but I am soooooo glad we did not give in to our fear. Our Aspergers son has the sweetest, most gentle heart for the Lord. Our Autistic child can be difficult but is SUCH a blessing to us in so many ways. Our child who had heart surgery is a joy to us & every Dr or nurse who has worked with him has referred to him as the “miracle boy” because he exceeded everything they said with no earthly explanation for it. Our daughter who died deeply touched the hearts of everyone who came into contact with her, even those who just knew of her thru a church prayer chain. We feel so amazingly & deeply blessed that God has chosen us to parent these special children. Fear could have stolen those blessings from us. True, we would not have had to live with the pain but God used the painful moments in so many ways for His glory & for that we praise Him.

Nicole, it is so evident that God has stretched and grown your heart through your trials and that makes your blessings all the sweeter. I do think you actually have to have a special needs child, before telling others that it shouldn’t matter in your decision.

I do appreciate how the Jeubs respect people’s decision to stop having kids, or to continue, as the Lord guides them. We decided to stop after two, and couldn’t be happier with our decision! Every case is different, as the Jeubs have pointed out.

Wendy and I are glad we celebrated last month. Today was totally hectic. Our neighborhood was evacuated from a chemical leak from a train…250 homes. Several great friends offered their homes to us, and we ended up with our dog sitter’s home. I have a card for Wendy, but didn’t even get to give it to her! Oh well, it’ll have to be belated.
