Mothers raise children for a short moment in life, but their love lasts a lifetime. That’s my rewrite of this other quote: “Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.”

The Great Problem Solver: Creativity
I attended a tournament yesterday, one that I had absolutely no time to run. My club ran it, my ministry funded it, my students participated in it, and my kids all helped out – but I didn’t have the time to pull it together. Creativity came through and made it happen, which leads to a pretty profound reminder of how incredible “creativity” is. Let me explain.

For Action
We’ve got training down, but I want to launch these competitors into life. It’s like the last dozen years has been pouring the footings, the cement, the launching pad, the control station. We’re just getting started. And we’re wheeling on these rockets – these young fueled up speakers and debaters – to launch into the world and light it up!

“I Cannot Afford It” Pt 2: Our $100 Date
Without hardly a second thought, I made reservations. I forked up the dough, and “we cannot afford it” didn’t cross my mind. “I cannot afford it” would have been a lie, and my wife would have sniffed that out better than my son with his shoes.

Life in 2012 Is Awesome
We live a life of nonconformity. There are several reminders of the choices we have made over our 21-year-old family life. These reminders are seldom bleak. Compared to the childhood I recall, life in 2012 is pretty awesome.

Why “I Cannot Afford It” Isn’t True
“I cannot afford it,” is the common response, but it’s hardly ever true. And your son/daughter/spouse know it. I propose to you this: claiming you cannot afford something is a whiny excuse for not purchasing it.

Public Speaking and SCORRE
You’d think we’d have public speaking training down pat. Really, we run speaking camps, for crying out loud, through our ministry. We send champions off to national competitions where they win, some of whom are our own children. But public speaking ourselves is an entirely different beast.
