As time went on we embarked on two journeys. I call them our spiritual and our personal journeys. One led us to discover a faith we never even thought about before. The other made us question the things we had been led to believe by society over the years.
Parents need the serenity to accept the things they cannot change, the courage to change the things they can, and (thank you twin research) the wisdom to know the difference.
Could it be that one of the biggest persuasions from having another child be a parents’ own children? Perhaps. We want to respond with three things that we’ve found doesn’t work (but they’re conventional wisdom), and then three things we’ve found to work wonders.
For those parents choosing not to have children (for whatever reason) to take that step of faith and start parenting. The biological clock is ticking, and the time may be now.
We remember when they were all little ones running around. The truck up the hill is tough in those years. But it does get better. And it’s well worth the hard work now.
